In 2005 we had lots of yard space, so the hop farm was planted.
At the time, our landlord did not want us to plant anything in the ground,
so the two Willamette rhizomes were planted in two pots. This ended up being a big help, due to the
fact that we moved, and it was easy to transport the hops in their pots.
A whopping 7 hop cones were gathered from one of two hop vines. When dried
and weighed, they didn't even register on the scale. The hops were used as aroma hops for batch #29, SoNo Pale Ale.
In 2006, 2007, and 2008 the hops were growing down in Los Altos. Each season
was a bust. In 2009, I moved the hops up to our new house in SF's foggy Sunset district. I don't have much
hope, but at least they are growing. Click
